TV personality Shin Jung Hwan might be requested for police interrogation following his shocking revelations regarding sex bribery within the Korean entertainment sector. A report was filed by a concerned citizen to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on April 23, prompting an investigation into potential violations of the Act on the Punishment of Arranging Sexual Traffic based on Shin's statements. The Women’s Safety Division is currently examining the case.
In a video titled "Unfiltered Discussion of the Century! (feat. Power, Celebrities, and Sex Bribery)" posted on his YouTube channel 'NonNonNon' on April 21, Shin disclosed accounts he claimed to have witnessed firsthand involving celebrity sex bribery with wealthy businessmen.
Shin shared how he overheard senior businessmen conversing about their encounters with a female celebrity, revealing specific amounts of money exchanged for the experiences. His colleague Kang Byung Kyu also mentioned a circulated list containing names of individuals and corresponding prices.
The report filed emphasized that such actions could potentially breach Article 4 of the law that prohibits arranging or facilitating sexual services for monetary gain. The complainant stressed the importance of a thorough investigation for public welfare.
Given the public nature of Shin's statements, authorities may seek to question him as a key witness to substantiate the claims. Whether this will lead to a broader inquiry into sex bribery within the entertainment industry remains uncertain.
