A group of seasoned idols have decided to take a break from their group activities to participate in Mnet's survival show 'Boys Planet 2,' with the goal of reviving their careers through international recognition.

'Boys Planet 2' is a project aimed at forming the next top K-pop boy group by putting K and C trainees through rigorous evaluations before assembling the final lineup. The success of the first season led to the formation of ZEROBASEONE, which quickly gained popularity with multiple million-selling albums and strong global fanbase.

As the second season of the show progresses, several active idols have announced sudden hiatuses, most likely due to their involvement in the program. These decisions, initially met with speculation, are now viewed as strategic moves to increase both individual and group visibility.

On April 30, members of WHIB - Jayder, Leejeong, and Wonjun - temporarily halted their activities. Their agency, C-JeS Studio, assured that WHIB would continue to promote as a five-member group for the time being.

Subsequent announcements on May 9 revealed that Heechan and Harry June from DKB, Dongheon, Gyehyeon, and Kangmin from VERIVERY, as well as Kim Junseo from WEi, had also paused their team schedules for personal reasons or unspecified solo ventures.

Experts in the industry consider this shift as advantageous. They believe that idols with existing fanbases can gain an edge in audition programs fueled by global fan votes, following in the footsteps of ZEROBASEONE's success.

Additionally, the opportunity presented by the show is seen as a chance for artists from smaller agencies to make a comeback. Making it to the final lineup or achieving high rankings can greatly enhance their visibility and fan following.

However, some are cautious about potential consequences. Those who decide not to participate may feel left out or miss out on exposure. Agencies are advised to provide solo activity opportunities for such members.

Fans eagerly anticipate whether these experienced idols can leverage this second chance to break through the intense competition and achieve success once again.
