Netflix has unveiled a new video offering a behind-the-scenes peek into the making of 'Lost in Starlight,' their debut Korean animated feature film.

The film is set in futuristic Seoul, 2050, and revolves around Nanyeong, a budding astronaut, and Jay, a disillusioned former musician. Their meeting and bond delve into themes of love, ambition, and the significance of dreams.

Director and writer Han Ji Won sheds light on her inspiration and vision for the project in the video. She wanted to portray love in its various forms, encompassing romantic love, familial support, and the pursuit of personal aspirations. By envisioning a near-future Seoul, Han aimed to create a world that feels both futuristic and familiar, blending elements like holograms and neon signs with retro textures and real-world materials.

The film draws from Seoul's landmarks and incorporates nostalgic elements like LP records and turntables to create a unique retro-cyberpunk Korean style. Lead actors Kim Tae Ri and Hong Kyung significantly contributed to shaping the film's emotional depth through their involvement in various aspects from live-action scenes to character development, and their natural performances enhanced the chemistry between the characters.

The film's music, featuring artists such as John Park and Kim Daniel, alongside contributions from Kim Tae Ri and Hong Kyung, adds an emotional layer to the story. This distinct blend of animation, performances, and an exceptional soundtrack brings to life a relatable romantic tale set in a world where love and dreams endure across time.

'Lost in Starlight' is scheduled for an exclusive release on Netflix on Friday, May 30.
