Luka Dončić took it upon himself to cover the costs for restoring a mural of Kobe and Gianna Bryant in Los Angeles that was defaced by vandals. The mural, titled “Mambas Forever,” located at 14th and Main streets and created by artist Louie Palsino, had been damaged by white spray paint and graffiti, leaving only parts of it visible. The mural, a tribute to the Bryants following their tragic death in a helicopter crash, held sentimental value to many. Dončić, a basketball player for the Dallas Mavericks, promptly donated $5,000 to fund the repair after learning about the incident. Within a short period, the artist's GoFundMe campaign had exceeded its target, raising over $5,400. Palsino expressed his gratitude towards Dončić for his support and expressed confidence that Kobe would be proud of the initiative. The defacement occurred ahead of the anticipated release of Mamba & Mambacita Forever in August 2025, a book curated by Vanessa Bryant showcasing over 100 murals worldwide dedicated to Kobe and Gianna. The perpetrators behind the vandalism have not been identified, and the reason for their actions remains unclear.
