Koo Jun Yup made his first public appearance after his wife, Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, passed away. Concern arose among fans and family as he appeared visibly thinner.

Hsu's mother shared photos on May 12 showing Koo at a family gathering in a black t-shirt, cap, and sunglasses. His pronounced jawline and fragile appearance attracted attention to his current state.

In a heartfelt social media post, Hsu's mother expressed sorrow on Mother's Day, mentioning Koo's deep longing for her daughter, causing him to lose weight.

She thanked her other son-in-law, Mike, for his attentive care, calling her children filial. She also recounted how her other daughter arranged an AI video of Barbie for her birthday.

Hsu's mother also expressed gratitude to fans and colleagues for their ongoing support and remembrance of her daughter, promising to remain strong.

Reports from March stated that Koo had lost over 12 kilograms post-funeral and had been avoiding public outings. Presently, he is working on a memorial statue for Barbie at Jinbaoshan, Taiwan, her final resting place.

Barbie Hsu gained fame in Taiwan and Asia for her role in the 2001 drama "Meteor Garden." She started her career as a singer in 1994 with her sister Dee Hsu.

Barbie Hsu and Koo Jun Yup tied the knot in February 2022, reigniting a romance that began in 1998 during Koo's promotional activities in Taiwan with Clon.

Barbie Hsu passed away on February 2 while in Japan with Koo, succumbing to pneumonia and influenza complications.
