Actress Jung Ga Eun has opened up about her financial struggles and shared that she is embarking on a new career path as a taxi driver, believing it could be more financially rewarding than working for a big corporation.
She documented her journey towards obtaining a taxi license in a recent YouTube video on her channel Wonder Ka Eun. At the exam center, she encountered YouTuber Park Rae Ho, known for his traffic-focused content, and mentioned her thorough preparation for the test.
During a practice exam, Park was impressed by Jung's apt answers to sample questions, although he cautioned her against striving for a perfect score, citing that no one had achieved that. Jung displayed genuine interest by seeking clarification on challenging topics and expressed her strong determination to pass with a score above 90%.
In a prior video, she shared her personal incentive for pursuing this career change, citing her father's longtime occupation as a private taxi driver who had recently undergone surgery for esophageal cancer. She aspired to have him as her first passenger upon passing the exam. Through her research, she learned that with dedication, taxi driving could potentially yield earnings of around 10 million KRW monthly, surpassing the salaries offered by many major firms.
Jung Ga Eun initiated her career as a model in 1997 and gained recognition after finishing as a runner-up in the Miss Korea Gyeongnam competition in 2001. Following this, she ventured into the entertainment industry. In 2016, she tied the knot with a businessman and had a daughter. However, their marriage ended in divorce in 2018.
It later emerged that her ex-husband had engaged in fraudulent activities using her identity, totaling around 13.2 billion KRW. Despite previous instances of fraud and legal repercussions, during their marriage, he deceived her into providing substantial amounts of money for purported business ventures and tax obligations. Following their separation, he evaded financial responsibilities and legal repercussions by residing abroad.
Reflecting on her hardships in a television appearance, Jung admitted the emotional toll these ordeals had taken on her. She discussed the struggles of financial instability post-movie filming and her journey towards resilience in the face of uncertainty, particularly as a single mother, emphasizing her determination to persevere despite challenges.
