A notorious cyberwrecker YouTuber who targeted Kim Hee Young, the chairwoman of the T&C Foundation and partner of SK Group Chairman Chey Tae Won, along with popular streamer Juicy Seyeon, has been identified, and legal action has been initiated against them.
Juicy Seyeon, with the help of her legal representative attorney Jung Kyung Seok from LIWU Law Group, revealed that the person behind defamatory YouTube channels like "Gochu Field," "Gochu Town," and "Serengeti" has been identified and the channels have been removed. This individual had created videos mocking various public figures, including Juicy Seyeon. Legal proceedings have been launched in response to the defamation.
Kim Hee Young's team is also pursuing legal action against the same YouTuber through discovery processes and a domestic lawsuit.
Previously, LIWU Law Group exposed PPKKa, an anonymous cyberwrecker with over a million subscribers, as a man in his 30s named Park.
Furthermore, the identity of another anonymous cyberwrecker spreading false rumors about K-pop idols such as IVE’s Jang Won Young and BTS on the YouTube channel Sojang has been uncovered, leading to ongoing legal proceedings against this individual.
These developments indicate a shift in the online landscape as more high-profile figures take legal action against anonymous cyberwreckers. The political arena is responding with calls for regulatory reform. Lawmaker Jun Yong Gi proposed the "PPKKa Prevention Act," aiming to enhance accountability for foreign platforms and ensure transparency in cyberwrecker identities, while also strengthening penalties for online defamation and harassment to deter malicious behavior.
The increased legal actions against cyberwreckers suggest that they are no longer immune to South Korean law when using overseas platforms, and as a result, more anonymous channels are shutting down.
