During the awards show in Pasadena, California, Rainey Jr. secured the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for his role in Power Book II: Ghost.

In a moment filled with pride and joy, the show's executive producer, 50 Cent, expressed his happiness for Rainey Jr.'s accomplishment. "I’m so happy for him, the NAACP is really all we got. We do bigger numbers than a lot of shows but we don’t get nominated because of diversity," highlighted 50 Cent.
