BLACKPINK's Rosé Quits Korea Music Copyright Association

Rosé of BLACKPINK has made a significant change in her music management by withdrawing her membership from the Korea Music Copyright Association (KMCA). As reported by an exclusive media outlet on February 20 KST, Rosé officially terminated her membership agreement with the KMCA on October 31 KST last year.

Moving forward, all copyright matters related to Rosé's music will be overseen by her American label, Atlantic Records. The international management of Rosé's copyrights will be handled by prominent organizations such as the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and Broadcast Music Inc (BMI), aligning with the standard practice for foreign artists.

An industry insider shared insights on Rosé's strategic move, stating, "There is no practical need for Rosé to manage her copyrights separately in Korea and the United States, as this would involve duplicate fees."

In a notable trend, Rosé becomes the second artist in South Korea, after Seo Taiji in 2002, to withdraw from the KMCA. Fans are now buzzing with expectations for BLACKPINK's comeback, speculating that it might arrive sooner than anticipated.
