A$AP Rocky has been declared innocent of all charges in his assault trial after the jury took just a single day to deliberate.

In a courtroom in Los Angeles on Tuesday (February 18), A$AP Rocky emerged victorious as the jury absolved him of all accusations in his high-profile assault case. The visibly relieved rapper expressed his gratitude to everyone for what he deemed as "saving" his life.

This swift verdict brought an end to a legal battle that could have resulted in the artist serving over two decades in prison.

Comprising of seven women and five men, the jury unanimously acquitted Rocky of two felony charges of assault with a firearm stemming from an alleged 2021 shooting involving his former associate Terell Ephron, also known as A$AP Relli.

Throughout the trial, the prosecution contended that Rocky discharged a weapon during a heated altercation, while his defense team maintained that the alleged firearm was merely a prop for a music video.

Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, rejected a plea bargain that would have entailed a 180-day jail sentence, choosing instead to take his chances in court. The trial spanned approximately three weeks, featuring intense moments, unexpected testimonies, and some light-hearted exchanges as both sides vied for the jury's favor.

In their closing arguments, the prosecution emphasized the simplicity of the case, urging the jurors that if they believed the weapon wasn’t a prop, their decision should take no more than "five minutes."

However, the trial notably lacked physical evidence of the gun in question, leaving the jury to deliberate conflicting testimonies without a weapon to examine.

During the trial, Rocky's partner, Rihanna, was a steadfast presence, even bringing their two young sons for the final arguments and the reading of the verdict.

Prosecutors cautioned the jury against allowing any sympathy towards the singer and her children to influence their judgment.

Now that his legal issues have been resolved, Rocky will likely shift his focus to his upcoming headline performance at Rolling Loud on March 15 in Inglewood, California.
