Doechii Speaks Out Against Lip-Syncing Accusations After 2025 Grammy Performance

After her electrifying performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards, Doechii is addressing the rumors that she lip-synced during her set, vehemently defending her live vocals.

Responding to critics who claimed she wasn't rapping live, the TDE artist took to TikTok to set the record straight. In a passionate video, she expressed frustration at the accusations, emphasizing the complexity of her performance, which included intense choreography, acrobatics, and costume changes.

Defending her authenticity, Doechii clarified that her DJ's voice was filling in for her during physically demanding parts of the performance, such as somersaults, and highlighted the challenges she faced, performing with bronchitis and flu. She asserted that her dedication and hard work were evident in the live performance, dismissing any suggestions of lip-syncing.

At the Grammy Awards, Doechii wowed audiences with her renditions of "Catfish" and "Denial Is a River," ultimately winning the Best Rap Album for her mixtape "Alligator Bites Never Heal." In her acceptance speech, she delivered an empowering message to young Black women, becoming only the third woman in history to receive the award, joining the ranks of Lauryn Hill and Cardi B. Nominated for Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance, Doechii's impactful presence continues to make waves in the music industry.
