Actor Park Hee Soon's Agency Addresses Tax Evasion Allegations

Acclaimed actor Park Hee Soon is facing allegations of tax evasion, leading his agency, NSE&M, to release an official response.

In a statement dated February 17th KST, NSE&M conveyed:

"Park Hee Soon has consistently abided by tax laws with the guidance of professional tax advisors throughout his career. The recent tax assessment arose during routine discussions with tax authorities and is not indicative of any illegal actions on the part of the actor."

The agency clarified further:

"We have already lodged an appeal during the initial review stage. Regrettably, reports emerged prematurely, causing confusion for both Park Hee Soon and our agency. The discrepancy stems from differing interpretations between tax authorities and our tax consultants, and efforts are underway to settle this matter amicably."

Moreover, they stressed:

"Park Hee Soon is fully cooperating with authorities and is unwavering in meeting all tax responsibilities with utmost transparency."

According to reports as of February 12th, the Seoul Regional Tax Office conducted an audit on Park Hee Soon last year, leading to an ₩800 million (around $600,000 USD) tax penalty. The reports also suggested scrutiny on his family-operated entertainment company, where Park serves as CEO and his wife, Park Ye Jin, holds an executive position, reportedly earning billions annually.

While the appeal process is ongoing, Park Hee Soon's agency firmly refutes any deliberate misconduct and is actively seeking resolution.
