MAMAMOO's Whee In recently opened up about her current agency status on the latest episode of 'The Seasons: Lee Young Ji’s Rainbow' on KBS 2TV.
Amid her hectic schedule filled with solo concerts and global tours, Whee In disclosed, "I'm currently flying solo. I'm a free soul." Host Lee Young Ji added to the conversation, teasing, "Everyone's wondering who will snap up Whee In next."
Despite receiving numerous agency offers, Whee In shared, "I'm still in the process of considering my options." Reflecting on the perks and drawbacks of being an independent artist, she candidly admitted, "The best part is that all the earnings go straight to me. It's all my hard-earned money," followed by a hearty laugh.
Previously, MAMAMOO made waves by raking in 20.2 billion KRW (around 14 million USD) in annual revenue, showcasing their monumental success.
However, Whee In didn't shy away from addressing the challenges of not being affiliated with an agency, noting, "I have to manage everything on my own. Even the trivial tasks, like renting a car, I have to handle by myself. It's not as convenient."
When questioned about her ideal agency, Whee In stressed the significance of achieving a harmonious work-life balance. She expressed, "While I adore creating albums and immersing myself in music, I also deserve downtime. I didn't prioritize that in the past, so now I cherish it even more."
Furthermore, she took a moment to advocate for herself, stating, "I possess versatility across genres and a unique vocal quality. Additionally, I prioritize the well-being of my team, which is why many have stayed by my side for 8–9 years. That's something people admire about me."
Fans were left in awe as Whee In shared her thoughts on navigating the music industry and her pursuit of a balanced career path.
