Fans are voicing their frustration with the management of BTOB by BTOB Company.
After parting ways with Cube Entertainment in December 2023, BTOB found themselves under the management of BTOB Company, a subsidiary of DOD created specifically for the group. However, the company only oversees 4 of the BTOB members - Eunkwang, Hyunsik, Peniel, and Minhyuk. Changsub is active under Fantagio Music, while Sungjae is under IWILL Media.
The split between the members under different companies has limited BTOB's group activities in the past year. Despite this, the 4 members at BTOB Company have continued promoting using the BTOB name, releasing music and holding fan events.
Fans have now started urging the 4 members to adopt a unit name when promoting as a quartet instead of using the full "BTOB." They argue that the name "BTOB" should represent all 6 members, and that the continued use by the 4 members could be seen as excluding Changsub and Sungjae from the group.
In response to fan concerns, BTOB Company released a statement explaining their decision to continue using the name "BTOB" for the 4 members' promotions to protect the group's brand value. The agency emphasized their commitment to the group's future and unity.
However, fans did not take well to this response, feeling that the company dodged addressing their worries and overlooked important dates in BTOB's Season's Greetings package. Fans expressed disappointment and frustration over the situation, questioning the validity of promoting as BTOB with only 4 members and suggesting the use of different unit names for the quartet's activities.
The ongoing tension between fans and the management highlights the desire for transparency and unity within the BTOB fandom, showing the deep connection and dedication fans have towards the group.
