Drake & PARTYNEXTDOOR Accused of Stealing from Freddie Gibbs
/Article

Is This a Coincidence or a Trend for Drake?

Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR face accusations of appropriating intellectual property for their upcoming joint project just before its release.

Freddie Gibbs hinted at Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR borrowing the title idea for their project, $ome $exy $ongs 4u, from his own 2022 project $oul $old $eparately in a series of tweets shared on Thursday. While Gibbs initially appeared slightly bothered, he later seemed to play down his apparent discontent.

In a subsequent tweet, Gibbs even shared a teaser for his 2022 album, poking fun at Drake and PND with “$$$4u.” He also referenced Soulja Boy, known for accusing Drake of copying his flow in the past.

Although some were skeptical, many users supported Gibbs in claiming his creative ideas were copied.

Notably, Gibbs isn’t alone in alleging plagiarism by Drake and PND. Beyond Gibbs, a Twitter Hip-Hop fan page suggested that the duo also emulated the cover art idea for their project from a fellow Canadian artist, John River.

John River, also from Mississauga like PARTYNEXTDOOR, claimed he had meetings with OVO members, including PND, discussing concepts present in both his music video and the cover art of Drake and PND's album.

Allegations of creative theft continue to surround Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR as they gear up for the release of their much-anticipated joint project.
