The tragic passing of Murder Inc. co-founder Irv Gotti on February 5 at the age of 54, following a massive stroke, has left a void in the music industry. Gotti's family has shared an update on the funeral arrangements, revealing changes to the initial plans for a public service.

Initially, it was reported that a funeral would take place at Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral in Jamaica, Queens, where Gotti began his career as DJ Irv. However, a recent statement to Gotti's one million Instagram followers announced a shift in plans.

The family stated, “Please be advised that the funeral services for Irving ‘Irv Gotti’ Lorenzo will not take place on Tuesday, February 18th. Instead, there will be a private service for family and close friends on Wednesday, followed by a public procession. Further details on the procession will be shared soon. Thank you.”

With the capacity to hold up to 2,500 individuals, the Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral was expected to host a large crowd to pay tribute to Gotti, who played a pivotal role in the careers of artists such as Ja Rule, Ashanti, and JAY-Z.

In the wake of Gotti's passing, Ashanti, who had a complex relationship with him, expressed her sentiments on Instagram, acknowledging their shared history and musical collaborations.
