Jang Sung Kyu Responds to Allegations of Neglecting Workplace Harassment of Late Announcer Oh Yoanna

In a recent social media statement, former JTBC announcer Jang Sung Kyu addressed accusations of turning a blind eye to workplace harassment suffered by the late MBC weathercaster Oh Yoanna. Following a request from Oh Yoanna’s family to address the situation, Jang clarified his side of the story to prevent further victimization.

Jang initially believed Oh Yoanna had a good relationship with colleague Kim Ga Young when they first met in 2022. However, their dynamics shifted when Oh sought his advice, expressing concerns about her appearance on a show. Jang interpreted these as typical workplace challenges and suggested support from Kim Ga Young, who allegedly faced internal work-related obstacles that hindered any collaboration.

Denying claims from a YouTube channel that he spread false narratives about Oh Yoanna, Jang emphasized his innocence in any wrongdoing. He also expressed deep regret for not being able to help Oh Yoanna before her passing, which he learned about through the news due to the private nature of her funeral arrangements.

The tragic death of Oh Yoanna at 28 shed light on workplace bullying she endured from specific weathercasters. Allegations against Jang arose from a recorded conversation released by the YouTube channel, prompting him to refute the claims and demand corrective action.

Jang Sung Kyu’s response aims to set the record straight regarding the workplace harassment case involving the late announcer Oh Yoanna.
