Actress Kim Hye Eun, former main weathercaster for MBC, recently opened up about her career journey and reflections on the tragic news surrounding the late Oh Yoanna in a candid interview on YouTube alongside former MBC anchor Baek Ji Yeon.
Sharing memories from her time at Cheongju MBC, Kim revealed, "My first job was at Cheongju MBC. I joined in 1997 and worked there for almost 10 years, eventually leaving after my ninth year."
When questioned about her decision to depart from MBC, Kim explained, “I wanted to make my exit while still being celebrated.”
Recalling her interactions with junior colleagues who aspired to follow in her footsteps, Kim admitted feeling torn as she contemplated her resignation amidst their admiration.
Originally hailing from Busan, Kim Hye Eun pursued vocal music studies at Seoul National University before transitioning to become an announcer at Cheongju MBC and later rising to prominence as MBC's main weathercaster, garnering nationwide acclaim. Her tenure at MBC concluded in 2004.
Transitioning to acting post-MBC, Kim captivated audiences with her compelling portrayal in the 2012 film 'Nameless Gangster: Rules of the Time.'
Addressing the prevalent issue of workplace bullying, particularly in light of the tragic incident involving Oh Yoanna, Kim emphasized, “Bullying in any workplace is unacceptable, yet regrettably, it persists in some environments.”
Expressing apprehension about the treatment of weathercasters at MBC, Kim raised concerns about the perception of weathercasters as potentially disposable or commodity-like entities within the organization.
