T.O.P Shuts Down Speculations of Big Bang Reunion
Former Big Bang member T.O.P has directly addressed swirling rumors about a potential comeback to the iconic K-pop group, confirming that his stance on the matter remains unwavering.
In a statement released on February 11th KST, a spokesperson for T.O.P clarified, “The presence of ‘TOP’ on Choi Seung Hyun’s social media account has not been altered or added recently—it has always been part of his profile.” The representative reiterated, “His position in relation to Big Bang remains consistent with what he shared in a recent interview.”
Recent chatter among online communities was sparked by the sighting of T.O.P’s name on Big Bang’s official YouTube channel, where it appeared alongside “G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P, Daesung.”
Moreover, T.O.P’s official social media handles still retain the moniker “TOP Choi Seung Hyun,” triggering further speculation. Fans began anticipating a potential full-group reunion after observing changes in his profile picture.
However, T.O.P clarified his stance in a recent interview where he confessed that he did not feel prepared to rejoin Big Bang following his departure. Discussing his decision during a press interview for Netflix’s 'Squid Game 2' last month, he expressed remorse over the harm he believed he had caused to the group.
In his own words, T.O.P revealed, “Upon my military discharge, I acknowledged the negative impact I had on Big Bang. I opted to step away as I did not wish to add further difficulties to the group.”
Elaborating on his departure, he explained, “Upon the completion of my contract, I chose to part ways post the ‘Still Life’ project. I struggled with feelings of shame regarding a potential return to Big Bang. Operating solo allows me to take ownership of my past errors, a luxury that wouldn’t be afforded within the group. I did not want to be a burden to them.”
Amid ongoing discussions about his potential reunion, T.O.P has reiterated that his standpoint remains steadfast, effectively quelling the speculations.
