A Korean drama with an intriguing twist—featuring an 80-year-old wife and a much younger husband—is gearing up for its premiere.

Set to debut soon, JTBC’s upcoming weekend series, 'More Beautiful Than Heaven' (working English title), narrates the love story of Son Suk Goo and Kim Hye Ja. With Son born in 1983 and Kim in 1941, the show presents a striking 42-year age gap between its lead characters.

Helmed by director Kim Seok Yoon and penned by writers Lee Nam Gyu and Kim Soo Jin, 'More Beautiful Than Heaven' weaves a tale of romance that blossoms when 80-year-old Lee Hae Suk (portrayed by Kim Hye Ja) reunites in the afterlife with her husband, Go Nak Jun (played by Son Seok Gu), who assumes a youthful appearance. Their journey beyond mortal existence into a new phase is poised to deliver both hearty humor and poignant emotions.

In a teaser clip released on February 6, Hae Suk is depicted boarding a train to heaven post her husband's passing. Upon navigating the entry process smoothly, she steps into a heavenly realm teeming with lush meadows and radiant sunlight. There, she reunites with her rejuvenated spouse, Go Nak Jun. Despite initial astonishment at their changed looks, the couple soon find solace in each other as they embark on this unanticipated chapter together.

The teaser has sparked enthusiasm among viewers, who are captivated by the innovative plot. Many have marveled at the unique setup, lightheartedly commenting on the transformation of an 80-year-old character into a youthful version akin to Son Suk Goo, and predicting that the series could pave the way for yet another compelling narrative from Kim Hye Ja. While a few fans acknowledged the wait until the premiere, the unconventional premise has left them eagerly awaiting the show.

In the drama, Lee Hae Suk assumes the role of the household’s matriarch overnight following her husband’s tragedy, exhibiting a resilience that defies her age and earns her the moniker 'Battle-Hardened Fighter.' Despite leading a robust life, she eventually passes at 80 and heads to heaven to reunite with her husband.

Conversely, Go Nak Jun, Hae Suk’s devoted spouse, serves as a postman in the afterlife, delivering letters carrying earthly desires. Anticipating his wife’s rejuvenated appearance, he is taken aback when she arrives as her 80-year-old self, setting the stage for an unexpected journey together in the afterlife.

'More Beautiful Than Heaven' stars two seasoned actors, with Kim Hye Ja, renowned for her heartfelt performances in acclaimed dramas, joining forces with Son Suk Gu, known for his impressive acting chops in films and television.

Following high anticipation, 'More Beautiful Than Heaven' is slated to premiere in April.
