The passing of former MBC weathercaster Oh Yoanna in September 2024 has brought to light a highly publicized workplace bullying incident. In the wake of her death, Yoanna's family has come forward with shocking revelations of the mistreatment she endured.

During an appearance on the MBN program 'News Fighter' on February 3, a family member disclosed distressing details of the bullying situation. According to the family, the primary instigator, identified as [name], was responsible for about 98% of the bullying, with three others playing a supporting role in the harassment. It was revealed that the mistreatment began when [name] targeted Yoanna for missing a program after just three months on the job.

The family shared that [name] portrayed herself as a mentor but subjected Yoanna to verbal abuse under the guise of guidance, using gaslighting tactics to manipulate her. Additionally, a separate group chat was created for spreading malicious gossip about Yoanna, although one member shared this hurtful information with her.

Yoanna had raised concerns about the workplace bullying to her family, leading them to believe her distress was genuine. In a bold move, her family submitted a 17-page letter, penned by Yoanna herself, detailing the individuals responsible for tormenting her, and filed a lawsuit for workplace harassment against her colleagues at the Seoul Central District Court.

In response, MBC launched an investigative committee, headed by an external expert, to unearth the truth behind the allegations. Concurrently, the police initiated an internal investigation following public complaints through the National Petition Service.
