Director Kim Won Seok is full of praise for IU and Park Bo Gum's on-screen chemistry in the highly anticipated Netflix series 'When Life Gives You Tangerines'.

Speaking at the 'Next on Netflix 2025 Korea' event on February 4th KST at Fairmont Ambassador Seoul, Kim Won Seok couldn't contain his excitement as he described their dynamic as "the most fun and heartwarming you could imagine."

He went on to say, "Park Bo Gum will reveal a whole new side of himself, while IU will mesmerize viewers with her diverse and captivating charms in this role."

Offering a glimpse into the plot, Kim explained, "The Korean title, a Jeju dialect phrase meaning 'smart and strong-willed', reflects the story of a young woman full of dreams and ambitions, navigating challenges stemming from poverty, island life, and societal expectations. Alongside her is Gwan Sik, a devoted and determined man who will go to any lengths for Ae Soon. Their journey unfolds as an adventure, navigating life's ups and downs together."

The series is generating buzz for teaming up renowned screenwriter Im Sang Chun ('When the Camellia Blooms') with director Kim Won Seok, known for his acclaimed works like 'Misaeng,' 'Signal,' and 'My Mister'.

In the show, IU portrays Ae Soon, a spirited Jeju native who defies her predetermined fate, while Park Bo Gum embodies Gwan Sik, a man of few words who lets his actions speak volumes, relying on his resilience to overcome life's challenges.
