Beloved actress Lee Joo Shil, known for her role in the popular series 'Squid Game 2', has peacefully passed away at the age of 81 on February 2, 2025.

Having battled Stage 3 breast cancer in 1993 and achieving remission in 2010, Lee Joo Shil faced a setback with a relapse in November last year, bravely enduring her health struggles.

Making her debut as a voice actor and actress in 1964, Lee Joo Shil captivated audiences with her performances, most notably in the 2024 KBS romantic drama 'Beauty and Mr. Romantic' and 'Squid Game 2,' where she portrayed the character of detective Hwang Jun Ho's mother, skillfully played by actor Wi Ha Joon.

The funeral service to honor the memory of Lee Joo Shil will be held at Sinchon Severance Hospital in Seoul, with the solemn procession scheduled for the 5th.
