‘Redoing the Anyang Episode of “Repeat Restaurant” After Unsubstantiated Civilian Involvement Accusation’
/Article

The YouTube show 'Repeat Restaurant' faced controversy recently due to an alleged lie told by a civilian guest in an episode filmed in Anyang. As a result, the production team has decided to reshoot the episode. Hosted by broadcaster Poongja, the show features interviews with locals in different areas to discover and recommend revisited restaurants they love. In each episode, the visited restaurants compete, and the winner receives an official 'Repeat Restaurant' poster. The show has strict guidelines for selecting featured restaurants, which exclude family- or friend-owned businesses and franchise restaurants. Following the controversy, the production team confirmed that the first-place restaurant in the Anyang episode violated their selection criteria as the guest had falsely claimed no family relation to the restaurant. They have retrieved the awarded poster, deleted the original video, and will produce a new version soon. The team warned viewers against sharing personal information or excessive criticism and assured that the show has never accepted paid promotions for featured restaurants in its three years of operation. Poongja shared an Instagram update announcing an emergency meeting for the 'Repeat Restaurant' Anyang revisit, showing determination to address the issue.
