The K-pop group BOYNEXTDOOR has been appointed as the global ambassador for the 2025 FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship. This marks the first time a K-pop artist has been selected for the tournament organized by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).
The Men's Volleyball World Championship, which began in 1949, boasts a long-standing tradition and authority. This year's event is set to take place in Manila, Philippines starting from September 12, with the South Korean men's national volleyball team making it to the finals after an 11-year absence, sparking high expectations.
Regarded as the current hottest team in the K-pop scene, BOYNEXTDOOR (Sungho, Ryu, Myungjaehyun, Taesan, Lee Han, Woo Hak) will lend their support. The FIVB visited their headquarters in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on the 26th to appoint them as the global ambassadors for the 2025 FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship. As a result, BOYNEXTDOOR will engage in promotional activities ahead of the tournament and is scheduled to participate in the opening ceremony to embellish the finale stage.
BOYNEXTDOOR expressed their excitement and a sense of responsibility, stating, “In this significant year with the participation of the South Korean national team, we are thrilled to be global ambassadors and will do our best to convey the excitement and charm of volleyball to many. We will support and ensure the success of this tournament along with all fans who love volleyball.”
The FIVB stated, “BOYNEXTDOOR, as the global ambassadors of the 2025 FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship, will play a pivotal role in promoting sportsmanship, unity, and the spirit of competition. Their global influence will generate more interest in volleyball, promote cultural exchange, and contribute significantly to achieving the tournament's goal of uniting nations worldwide through volleyball.”
Ramon Suzara, the Senior Vice President of the FIVB, who attended the appointment ceremony, introduced, “I had the chance to attend BOYNEXTDOOR's concert in Manila, Philippines last March. Their unique charm, dynamism, and influence make them extremely suitable for the role of global ambassadors for the tournament,” he explained.
Kim Taeho, the Chief Operating Officer of HYBE, mentioned, “K-pop and sports share core values. The fervor and support towards those who give their best, in other words, the fandom and support, are shared common denominators. That is why the synergy between BOYNEXTDOOR and the 2025 FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship is highly anticipated.”
