Binance Removes Four Tokens, ALPACA Soars 71% as Others Decline
/Article

Binance, known as the largest cryptocurrency exchange globally, has revealed plans for the delisting of four tokens: Alpaca Finance (ALPACA), PlayDapp (PDA), Wing Finance (WING), and Viberate (VIB).

The announcement led to a drop in value for PDA, WING, and VIB, while ALPACA saw an unexpected surge in its price despite being removed from the platform soon.

The delisting will become effective on May 2 at 03:00 UTC, with users no longer able to deposit these tokens after May 3. Withdrawals will be halted after July 4, and all open positions in Binance Futures related to these tokens will be closed by April 30.

Binance decided to remove these tokens as part of its routine review process that assesses various factors like volume, liquidity, compliance with regulations, and project team activity. The tokens no longer met Binance's standards, leading to their removal from the platform.

Following the completion of the "Vote to Delist" campaign, PDA, ALPACA, and WING received percentages of votes in favor of their removal, while VIB was not part of the voting. Despite FTX Token (FTT) getting the most votes, Binance did not include it in the list of tokens to be delisted.

After the announcement, PDA, WING, and VIB experienced significant drops in value, while ALPACA's price surged along with an increase in trading volume, which was unusual given its imminent delisting. This raises concerns about potential manipulation tactics in the market.
