Former NCT member Taeil was recently sighted in public. Reports on April 21 mentioned Taeil being spotted by eyewitnesses and photos of him circulated on online platforms. A user detailed the encounter of seeing Taeil dining and drinking with two companions at a restaurant, mentioning that one of them requested not to take photos due to personal reasons.

Taeil, along with two others, are facing charges of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (aggravated quasi-rape) and are scheduled for trial on May 12. The court did not issue arrest warrants for the suspects, including Taeil, as they acknowledged the wrongdoing, lessening the flight risk concerns. Last June, Taeil was indicted for sexually assaulting a woman and subsequently removed from NCT by SM Entertainment after terminating his exclusive contract.

Fans expressed expectations for a thorough investigation and a suitable punishment for the crime, reflecting on the severity of the agency's decision to dismiss Taeil promptly. The alleged crime falls under the aggravated quasi-rape category, which involves sexual assault against a vulnerable individual or when a weapon is used, although no weapons were reported in this case. The offense carries a minimum sentence of seven years in prison or potential life imprisonment as a serious felony.
