Suge Knight is facing a second wrongful death trial for the 2015 hit-and-run death of Terry Carter, a Compton businessman. Despite disputes with his attorney, Knight has refused to allow him to withdraw from the case. The lawyer, David Kenner, had requested to be relieved due to communication breakdowns and conflicts of interest. The judge denied Kenner's motion to withdraw, and jury selection for the civil retrial proceeded. Knight expressed frustration with his lawyer's lack of response to his calls but insisted on keeping him. The civil case relates to Carter's death following an altercation involving Knight and Cle "Bone" Sloan in a parking lot. The first trial resulted in a hung jury, and Knight is geared up to testify in his defense again. He maintains his innocence and challenges his previous manslaughter conviction, alleging coercion by his former public defender. Knight is currently serving a 28-year prison term.
