Kendrick Lamar is going to be featured in a new Chanel eyewear campaign as he takes on the role of a brand ambassador. Despite his success in the high fashion world, he is facing some issues related to his recent GNX album.
Recently, it was unveiled in a Business of Fashion exclusive that the rapper from Compton will be the new face representing the luxury fashion brand Chanel. This marks another milestone in his career as he is set to star in Chanel's upcoming eyewear promotion.
Expressing his admiration for Chanel's timeless heritage, Kendrick Lamar mentioned in an interview with Business of Fashion that he stands by the brand's values. He acknowledged that since the brand doesn't produce clothes for men, he gladly accepted the opportunity to represent their eyewear line.
Upon hearing the news of Lamar's new role, his cousin and frequent collaborator, Hitta J3, congratulated him on social media. Their relationship with Chanel began years ago and reached a peak in early 2024 when they collaborated with the brand for the runway show featuring the short film, The Button.
However, as Lamar transitions to his position in the fashion world, there has been drama surrounding an artist featured on his GNX album. A rapper named Dody6 recently expressed dissatisfaction in a live video, claiming homelessness and minimal support following his appearance on the album. Although Lamar did not directly respond, Hitta J3 addressed these statements, defending Lamar and criticizing Dody6 for his actions. He argued that Lamar is not responsible for other individuals' issues or mental health struggles.
