The Korean movie 'The Match' has now exceeded 2 million viewers, marking a significant milestone as the second Korean film of 2025 to achieve this feat. Despite controversies surrounding actor Yoo Ah In, the film managed to garner widespread audience support, reaching the milestone on its 27th day in cinemas.

Surpassing the 2 million mark places 'The Match' among the top two highest-grossing Korean films of 2025, following 'Hitman 2', and ranks it third overall among all films released in 2025, trailing behind 'Mickey 17' and 'Hitman 2'. The film's success is notable considering the challenges it faced, including delays due to Yoo Ah In's drug-related scandal, which initially cast doubt on its release. However, the movie's resilience and strong performance at the box office underscore the significance of its achievement.

To commemorate reaching 2 million viewers, the team behind 'The Match' shared a gratitude video and celebratory photos featuring cast members Lee Byung Hun, Go Chang Seok, Hyun Bong Sik, Moon Jung Hee, and director Kim Hyung Joo holding balloons with the number "2 million." They expressed sincere thanks to moviegoers for their support and contribution to the film's success with a cheerful message: "Thank you for helping The Match achieve 2 million viewers!"

'The Match' portrays the story of Go (baduk) legend Cho Hun Hyun, portrayed by Lee Byung Hun, who, after a defeat to his apprentice, finds renewed drive to make a comeback and reclaim his position at the top.
