Spike Lee has chosen Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky to play the lead role in his upcoming movie "High 2 Lowest" after seeing online memes that likened the Hip-Hop artist to Denzel Washington's son. Lee shared in a podcast that he came across memes on Instagram comparing A$AP Rocky to Denzel's son, which influenced his decision to cast him in the crime drama remake. The film is a contemporary adaptation of Akira Kurosawa's "High and Low," revolving around a music executive portrayed by Washington who becomes the target of a ransom plot, forcing him into a crucial ethical dilemma. A$AP Rocky plays Yung Felon, a pivotal character shown in the teaser trailer wearing a prison jumpsuit. "High 2 Lowest" also stars Jeffrey Wright, Ilfenesh Hadera, and Ice Spice. This collaboration marks the first project between Lee and Washington in almost twenty years, following their previous works together, such as "Mo' Better Blues" (1990), "Malcolm X" (1992), "He Got Game" (1998), and "Inside Man" (2006). The film is set to release in theaters next month.
