CJ CheilJedang's 'Bibigo' dumplings have secured a patent for a unique feature that prevents them from bursting during the manufacturing process. The company announced that the patent was granted in the US, with the design showcasing repeated thin lines on the dumplings' outer skin. Filed in February 2023, the patent was approved in April 2025 and is valid for the next 15 years.

Following backlash from some Chinese internet users who accused South Korea of "copying" traditional Chinese dumplings, CJ CheilJedang clarified that the patent specifically pertains to the outer skin design developed to avoid bursting during mass production. It does not cover all types of dumplings.

In the US market, 'Bibigo' holds a significant position as the top-selling dumpling brand, commanding a market share of 37.5% in 2023, which increased to 41% in 2024.
