Chef Edward Lee shared mixed emotions as his 15-day adventure in Korea was coming to a close. The recent episode of the TV show 'Edward Lee’s Country Cook' showed the final part of Edward Lee, Byun Yo Han, Go Ah Sung, and Shin Si Ah’s trip to Yeosu with special guest Bae Jung Nam.

On their last night in Yeosu, Edward Lee suggested making gimbap and tteokbokki for dinner to create a meal everyone could enjoy together. They shopped for the ingredients, including their favorite snacks, and prepared a Korean snack-style meal. Edward Lee enjoyed Shin Si Ah’s mugwort-tteok-topped sikhye tteokbokki and the gimbap made with each person’s favorite ingredients.

Edward Lee mentioned the possibility of staying in Korea instead of returning to the U.S., revealing his deep connection and love for the country. He expressed that his experience was still processing in his mind, potentially leading to new ideas for his restaurant in the future.

During the trip, Edward Lee distributed personalized recipes to the group members and praised their improved cooking skills. He singled out Go Ah Sung as the top chef among them and appreciated her talent in making dumplings. Despite feeling reluctant about the trip ending, the group crafted a memorable final meal featuring various dishes reflecting their journey.

Edward Lee contemplated his identity, feeling more Korean after the trip and appreciating the authentic Korean cuisine experience. He emphasized that this journey had changed his perspective on Korean food significantly.
