In spite of the request to postpone the trial, the criminal trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to proceed on May 5 as scheduled. Combs had sought a delay, which was turned down by a federal judge named Judge Arun Subramanian. The judge denied the two-month adjournment request made by Combs' legal team. Following Combs' updated indictment with a third charge, his defense team requested more time to prepare as they claim to still be awaiting around 200,000 emails and various other materials from the prosecution that are crucial for the defense. Despite facing a new charge with a significant mandatory minimum sentence, Combs continues to maintain his innocence and has added attorney Brian Steel to his legal team. Combs is currently held in custody without bail and has pleaded not guilty to a total of five charges, including racketeering, sex trafficking, and transporting individuals for prostitution. Combs' defense team now has approximately three weeks to get ready for the trial, which will start on May 5.
