(G)I-DLE files lawsuit against doctored videos and defaming posts

Cube Entertainment, the agency managing (G)I-DLE, released a statement on April 18 denouncing the ongoing malicious editing and sharing of videos involving the group's members. The agency expressed concerns over the manipulation of videos to include inappropriate content, in addition to the circulation of defamatory, sexually harassing, and maliciously speculative remarks.

In the statement, Cube Entertainment stressed that these acts are not only illegal but also a serious infringement on the artists' rights to their image, reputation, and personal integrity. They confirmed that they had collected evidence related to the unlawful posts and were preparing to take legal action, both civil and criminal, with the aid of their legal representatives. The agency emphasized that they would pursue full accountability for those responsible for creating or spreading the edited videos and posting derogatory comments, without any leniency or settlements.

The issue arose when videos of (G)I-DLE members at an awards show were altered and shared online with inappropriate content, leading Cube Entertainment to take legal measures against the offenders.

Notably, (G)I-DLE, who renewed their contracts with Cube Entertainment in December 2024, has been focusing on the individual endeavors of its members and is preparing for a group comeback in May 2025.

Cube Entertainment's Full Statement:

"Hello, this is Cube Entertainment.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the loyal fans supporting our artists, (G)I-DLE. Lately, there has been a recurring dissemination of maliciously doctored videos and content featuring (G)I-DLE members online. Alongside this, unwarranted sexual insults, personal attacks, and speculative comments have been circulating recklessly. To safeguard our artists' rights, we hereby issue this official statement.

Regardless of the original video being filmed in a public setting, any act of malicious editing or fabrication, distribution, dissemination of false information, or posting defamatory statements such as sexual harassment or libel is a blatant criminal offense.

These actions not only constitute criminal violations but also a grave breach of the artist's entitlement to their image, reputation, and dignity. We have already compiled evidence of these illicit posts and are in the process of commencing all legal procedures through our legal representatives.

In particular, those found accountable for maliciously distributing these videos or posting derogatory comments will be held entirely responsible, with no leniency or negotiated settlements. We strongly advise individuals involved in the creation, dissemination, or consumption of said content to promptly remove all associated posts and comments and refrain from any further infringing activities.

We remain committed to safeguarding our artists' rights and nurturing a positive fan culture. Thank you."
