Drake has accused Universal Music Group (UMG) of purposely promoting Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl and Grammy performances to harm Drake's reputation. In his legal battle against UMG, Drake filed an amended complaint in New York, claiming that Lamar's performance of the song "Not Like Us" during the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show, watched by 133 million viewers, was designed to tarnish Drake's character. The complaint also mentions Lamar's Grammy Awards performance of the same song, which won Record of the Year and Song of the Year, reaching an audience of 15 million and further damaging Drake's reputation. Drake's legal team alleges that UMG may have collaborated with third parties to boost the song's streaming numbers through artificial means. UMG has refuted the claims, stating that Drake is being misled by his legal team and that the lawsuits are baseless. The court has granted Drake's team the right to request Lamar's contract with UMG and other internal documents. The ongoing promotion of "Not Like Us" has reportedly led to threats against Drake and his family, as well as harming his business relationships and public image. A hearing on UMG's motion to dismiss is scheduled for June 30, and if the case proceeds, a jury trial could begin later this year, lasting up to three weeks.
