According to a report from media outlet News1 on April 17 KST, actor Kim Soo Hyun has been instructed to rectify and settle the litigation fee and court service charges for his lawsuit against the family of the deceased actress Kim Sae Ron and the YouTube channel HOVERLAB. Failure to meet the payment deadline could result in the dismissal of his lawsuits.
Initially, Kim Soo Hyun's representatives announced plans to file a 12 billion KRW (~ $8.5 million USD) damages lawsuit against the mentioned parties for disclosing private information. However, the actual amount mentioned in the filed lawsuit was 11 billion KRW.
The 14th Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court has directed Kim Soo Hyun's side to correct the damages amount to reflect 12 billion KRW and pay the corresponding fees accordingly. The estimated costs for litigation and court service charges for a 12 billion KRW lawsuit are around 38 million KRW (~ $27,000 USD).
Despite the court's order, Kim Soo Hyun's side has not yet made the required payments. They had requested an extension for the fee deadline on April 16 KST, indicating hesitance to proceed with the required payment for the lawsuit to advance.
As a result, Kim Soo Hyun's damages lawsuit remains pending for the hearing stage until the litigation fees and court service charges are settled. A statement from Kim Soo Hyun's agency Gold Medalist mentioned that they are currently looking into the matter.
