Wayfinder (PROMPT) and KernelDAO (KERNEL) tokens, which were recently introduced, have faced significant decreases in their prices not long after their initial rise. Despite being listed on well-known platforms, both tokens have undergone sharp corrections, causing doubts about the sustainability of new launches in a congested market.
PROMPT serves as a utility and governance token linked to The Wayfinder Foundation, which uses autonomous artificial intelligence to navigate different blockchains, enabling seamless transactions and on-chain trading. The Token Generation Event (TGE) for PROMPT was announced on April 10, 2025, on X (previously Twitter), allowing users to claim tokens on Ethereum and Base.
Although PROMPT witnessed a remarkable 233.3% surge post-launch, hitting an all-time high of $0.60 on April 12, this growth was short-lived driven mainly by speculation. The token has now seen a substantial decline, currently trading 46.3% below its ATH with a 29.2% drop in the past 24 hours, priced at $0.33.
Alternatively, KERNEL, the staking protocol operated by KernelDAO, had a similarly tumultuous course. Following an airdrop that commenced on April 14, the KERNEL token encountered a 29.8% decrease, trading at $0.32. Despite initial listing confirmations by prominent exchanges like Binance and KuCoin, KERNEL's price has continued to fall.
The declining prices of PROMPT and KERNEL indicate that strategies involving launching tokens via major exchanges and TGEs may no longer ensure sustained success due to market saturation. A BeInCrypto report further supports this notion by revealing that 89% of tokens listed on Binance this year have seen price declines. As the cryptocurrency market evolves, investors may need to focus on enduring factors rather than initial excitement to determine a token's long-term value.
