Meta Platforms has announced that former Republican official Dina Powell McCormick and fintech firm Stripe's CEO Patrick Collison will be joining its board effective April 15th. The social media company will be increasing the size of its board to 15 members as stated in a regulatory filing by the Facebook parent company.

Dina Powell McCormick, who has a background in senior leadership roles at Goldman Sachs, previously served in government roles such as deputy national security adviser to President Donald Trump and as an assistant secretary of state for Condoleezza Rice during President George W. Bush's administration.

Patrick Collison, the co-founder of Stripe established in 2010, was part of the Meta Advisory Group before his appointment to the board. This external advisory council was created to provide insights on technology and product development for the company.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg praised the new board members, highlighting Collison's dedication to enhancing economic opportunities and Powell McCormick's advocacy for economic development and support for entrepreneurs.

These board additions come after Meta's recent policy changes, which included discontinuing its U.S. fact-checking program, appointing Republican Joel Kaplan as the new chief global affairs officer, and terminating diversity programs. In January, the company also welcomed three new directors to its board, including Dana White, CEO of Ultimate Fighting Championship, who is known to be a close associate of Trump.

Other notable members of Meta's board include Marc Andreessen, co-founder of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, and Tony Xu, CEO of DoorDash.
