The chairwoman of Luxshare, an Apple supplier, shared with analysts in a call that the company is exploring options to deal with U.S. tariffs by considering shifting more production outside China, potentially to the United States. The discussions shed light on how businesses globally are strategizing to handle the tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump that recently came into effect.

Luxshare, a Chinese firm known for assembling iPhones and producing AirPods, expressed that the tariffs would likely not significantly impact their profits and revenue as only a small portion of their products are exported to the U.S. However, they are contemplating increasing investments overseas and scaling back manufacturing plans in China to adapt to the new trade conditions.

The chairwoman mentioned the possibility of localizing some products for the U.S. market if there are commercial assurances and after a thoughtful assessment. Luxshare has informed certain customers about the need for guarantees when considering providing services in North America for products utilizing advanced automation technologies.

While avoiding direct references to Apple or other customers in the call, Luxshare emphasized the importance of considering long-term development and security factors in making decisions about expanding into new markets or adjusting production locations.

Luxshare, which operates in various countries including the U.S., Mexico, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, provides electronic devices beyond Apple products. The company is contemplating increased investment in Southeast Asia but has not disclosed specific locations at this time.

Vietnam, known for its well-established industrial infrastructure and skilled workforce, is a key destination for electronics production. However, businesses might only consider relocating production from Vietnam if the tariffs imposed there were significantly higher than those in other countries such as Thailand and Malaysia, given Vietnam's current competitive advantages in the industry.
