In an interview with the Nikkei newspaper, Jun Seki, the executive overseeing Foxconn's electric vehicle business, mentioned that although Foxconn has an interest in working with Nissan, they are not currently in discussions with the Japanese automaker. Seki emphasized the potential benefits of collaborating with Japanese automakers, particularly Nissan, and expressed optimism about the idea of forming a broader partnership involving Honda and Mitsubishi Motors. Foxconn is on the verge of finalizing an agreement with Mitsubishi Motors to supply them with electric vehicles.

Sources indicated that Mitsubishi intends to outsource the production of EVs for Oceania markets to Foxconn, a company known for making iPhones for Apple and AI servers for Nvidia. Previous reports suggested that Foxconn had proposed a partnership with Honda with the goal of establishing a partnership involving Nissan and Mitsubishi, following the breakdown of Honda-Nissan merger discussions. While Foxconn had considered the possibility of acquiring a stake in Nissan, its primary focus is on fostering collaboration.
