In Mexico City, President Claudia Sheinbaum shared that most automobile industry leaders with manufacturing plants in Mexico have affirmed that, at present, they have no intentions to relocate their factories.

Sheinbaum mentioned during her routine morning press briefing that she had engaged in conversations with numerous CEOs and key decision-makers from various auto companies to understand their future plans. She emphasized that the majority indicated they have no immediate intentions to make any changes.

Despite not being included in President Trump's recent announcement of global tariffs, Mexico remains under the 25% tariffs on steel, aluminum, and automobiles that were previously imposed. The tariffs also apply to products that do not adhere to the USMCA trade agreement.

Mexican Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard is scheduled to meet with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick in Washington later that day to address these tariffs, as stated by Sheinbaum.

Sheinbaum highlighted her government's preference to avoid implementing retaliatory tariffs, although she acknowledged that such measures could not be completely eliminated.
