Barclays eliminates diversity goals in the US in response to Trump’s position

Barclays has announced that it will no longer uphold its diversity and inclusivity targets in the United States, aligning with other British companies that have also dropped their inclusivity objectives due to opposition from the U.S. President.

Although the bank is discontinuing its inclusivity targets in the U.S., it will maintain its representation goals for the rest of the organization, as stated by a Barclays spokesperson in response to Reuters.

The decision follows a trend of companies worldwide revising their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) objectives in response to President Donald Trump's executive orders that cut federal programs supporting women, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and other historically marginalized groups.

According to a report by Bloomberg News, Barclays' policy shift came to light earlier in the day.
