Blueface was legally obligated to pay compensation for his silence in response to a defamation lawsuit brought by Soulja Boy's former partner over incorrect paternity allegations.
In this case, Blueface lost a defamation lawsuit by default for making false claims that he was the father of Soulja Boy's ex-girlfriend's child. The lawsuit, filed by Jackilyn Martinez in December 2023, accused Blueface of spreading misinformation on social media. Allegedly, he insinuated that he could be the father after claiming that he had been intimate with Martinez just before her baby shower.
During an online dispute between Blueface and Soulja Boy, these posts instigated harassment against Martinez, which included serious threats directed at her.
Court documents reveal that Blueface did not respond to the lawsuit or show up in court, resulting in a default judgment from a Los Angeles Superior Court judge. As a result, Martinez was awarded $123,243 in damages in a recent hearing, comprising $100,000 in general damages, $18,000 in special damages, $3,070 in attorney fees, and $2,173 in court expenses. Notably, no punitive damages were awarded.
Martinez stated that the false accusations had a profound impact on her mental well-being, leading to her suffering from various psychological and physical issues. She took legal action and informed the police after experiencing panic attacks, anxiety, depression, nausea, and insomnia due to the threats.
Martinez clarified that her encounter with Blueface happened in 2018 and was protected. DNA testing confirmed that Soulja Boy is the father of her child. Despite being served with legal papers while at a nightclub in January 2024, Blueface disregarded the lawsuit and refused to remove the offending posts. Currently, he is serving a four-year prison sentence for violating probation in an unrelated case.
