Former Big Bang member Seungri has denied recent reports suggesting he left South Korea to venture into business opportunities in China. In an interview with Ilgan Sports on April 3, Seungri clarified that the rumors about his departure from Korea were false. He emphasized that his overseas trips were purely for personal reasons, such as meeting old acquaintances and attending weddings, with no business intentions.
Contrary to earlier speculations about him planning to open a club abroad, Seungri dismissed such claims, stating that while he has international acquaintances and travels to overseas destinations to meet them, he is not involved in any business endeavors. Despite being out of prison for two years, Seungri stated that he has refrained from engaging in any economic activities and is leading a quiet life spent with his family.
Expressing dismay over being mocked with the nickname "Paebeh" (Defeat) instead of his stage name that means "Victory" in Korean, Seungri acknowledged the negative attention he has been receiving. He apologized for causing public fatigue and vowed to conduct himself more cautiously to avoid further controversies.
Recent reports from Chinese media alleged Seungri's appearance at a club in Hangzhou on March 19, where he was accompanied by bodyguards and drew a mixed reaction from fans. Meanwhile, sightings of Seungri at a Korean restaurant in Seoul have also been circulating online.
Seungri, known for his involvement in the 'Burning Sun scandal,' faced multiple charges in 2019 and was subsequently sentenced to prison. Despite his release, Seungri's attempt to return to public life has been met with skepticism and criticism.
