According to two senior Israeli officials, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed President Donald Trump's new tariff policy in a call on Friday with Trump. The aim is to reduce the impact of the potential U.S. measures on Israeli exports, which could face a 17% tariff under Trump's policy. Israel is looking to minimize any negative effects as the U.S. is its primary ally and biggest trading partner. Netanyahu addressed the issue during his call with Trump while visiting Hungary and officials are optimistic that the situation can be resolved. A finance ministry official mentioned that the new tariffs could impact Israel's exports of machinery and medical equipment. Israel recently eliminated its remaining tariffs on U.S. imports and has a long-standing free trade agreement with the U.S., with the majority of U.S. goods entering Israel duty-free.
