Tim Stokely, who created the adult content social media platform OnlyFans, along with the Hbar Foundation that focuses on cryptocurrency, recently put in a late bid to purchase TikTok. This bid was made by Zoop, a social media app co-founded by Stokely and entrepreneur RJ Phillips. The main goal of Zoop in acquiring TikTok is to provide a platform that distributes revenue fairly among its creators and users. Phillips stated that the aim is to establish a new approach where both creators and their communities benefit from the value they generate collectively. The deadline for ByteDance, the Chinese owner of TikTok, to agree to a sale is April 5, or else the app's 170 million U.S. users might face a ban due to national-security concerns related to the app's Chinese ownership. Other significant players in the TikTok acquisition discussions include Microsoft, Oracle, Perplexity AI, Elon Musk, MrBeast, and Amazon. Zoop views its bid as challenging the traditional social media giants and aiming to empower creators by ensuring they receive a fair share of ad revenue.
