Volkswagen has announced plans to introduce a new model of its Amarok mid-size pick-up truck in the South American market starting from 2027. The car manufacturer is investing $580 million to upgrade its Pacheco plant in Buenos Aires, where the current version of the Amarok has been manufactured since 2010, to manufacture the new model. VW's brand chief, Thomas Schaefer, stated that the new Amarok will be specifically developed, designed, and produced in South America to cater to the unique needs of customers in the region. Additionally, Volkswagen will keep producing the second generation Amarok in South Africa alongside the Ford Ranger.
