Domino’s teams up with DoorDash in American outlets to attract customers

In a recent announcement, Domino's revealed a new collaboration with DoorDash to have Domino's drivers in uniform deliver pizzas ordered through the DoorDash app. The terms of this partnership were not disclosed by either company.

This move will make it more convenient for Domino's to reach out to new customers who are already familiar with the DoorDash app. CEO Joe Jordan highlighted that the company anticipates attracting new customers, particularly in rural and suburban areas through this partnership. He emphasized that third-party delivery platforms represent a significant growth opportunity for the pizza chain, valued at around $1 billion.

While Domino's had previously resisted working with third-party delivery apps and concentrated on its in-house ordering systems, they began to shift gears in 2023 with a partnership with Uber Eats. A small percentage of Domino's orders were processed through Uber Eats in the last quarter, as reported in February.

The nationwide rollout of the Domino's delivery program through DoorDash is set to take place in May in the U.S. and will extend to Canada later in the year. Currently, customers can only order Domino's pizza delivery through the company or via Uber Eats.

With over 7,000 stores in the U.S., mainly operated by franchisees, and a global presence comprising 21,300 stores, Domino's is looking to expand its reach and customer base through this strategic collaboration.
