According to Bloomberg News, Walmart, a major U.S. retailer, continues to urge Chinese suppliers to lower their prices in response to the tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump. The suppliers are facing challenges in meeting Walmart's request for price cuts of up to 10% for each round of tariffs. Walmart has not yet commented on these reports.
In a recent meeting between Walmart and Beijing officials, discussions were held regarding claims that the retailer is asking its Chinese suppliers to reduce prices to counter the impact of the Trump administration's tariffs. Walmart has been proactively working to lessen the tariff impact by diversifying its supply chain and minimizing dependence on China. Despite these efforts, a considerable amount of Walmart's non-essential products, like clothing, electronics, and toys, are still sourced from China. This includes products such as Reebok shoes, Mattel toys, Onn TVs, t-shirts, belts, shoes, and appliances.
